Invest in Public Education

Betsy has used her senior position on the Appropriations Committee to support funding for public schools and Historically Black Colleges & Universities, such as Virginia Commonwealth University, as well as rebuilding Fox Elementary and modernizing schools.

Defend and Expand Healthcare

Betsy advocates for expanding access to Medicaid, affordable prescriptions, and mental healthcare. Betsy is also proud to have a 100% pro-choice track record in the legislature and has supported bills defending gender-affirming care.

SUPPORT EQUITY, OPPORTUNITY, JUSTICE, AND FAIRNESS

Betsy believes we have a responsibility to remove discriminatory laws and to legislate to make a fairer, more just Commonwealth for all. She supports criminal justice reform, as our system must be to keep people safe in a compassionate and just way for all.

Conserve The Environment

Betsy has been named an environmental champion every year since her election and has worked tirelessly to pass legislation that reduces our impact on and conserves our resources, our air and water, for our future generations.

Protect The LGBTQIA Community

Betsy also supports our LGBTQIA community knowing that it is crucial to eliminate discrimination and prevent bullying and suicide.

Prevent Gun Violence and Ensure Public Safety

Betsy has supported common sense gun reform and will continue to do so, and she has worked hard to get illegal guns off the street and protect Virginians from gun violence. No one should feel unsafe sending their child to school or going shopping at a grocery store.

ENCOURAGE AFFORDABLE HOUSING

Betsy has introduced and passed legislation to support affordable housing and to mitigate the housing crisis across Virginia.

Maintain and Improve Voting Access

Betsy supports expansion of early voting, including Sunday voting, use of secure drop boxes and for any voting list purges to be limited, not to be used to simply strike people from the voting roles.
