Dear Friend,
I am truly humbled to be re-elected to serve Virginia’s 78th District in the House of Delegates. Thank you to the over 33,500 voters who supported me and thank you to all those who voted to ensure their voice was heard, and in turn strengthened our Democracy. Additionally, I appreciate my opponent for stepping forward to run.
I would also like to congratulate all the other winners of elections, including the 99 other House of Delegates races. I’d look forward to working with the 13 new members of the House Democratic caucus, bringing our majority to 64.
Locally, I also am delighted to continue working with Richmond’s Commonwealth’s Attorney, Colette McEachin, and Richmond Sheriff, Antoinette Irving who were both re-elected and have been tireless leaders in our community.
The voters of Virginia were resoundingly clear in deciding the statewide ticket. I am especially pleased to congratulate my dear friend and colleague Ghazala Hashmi, the next Lieutenant Governor of Virginia. She is a deserving candidate and I know she is ready to meet this moment.
Virginia also elected its first Woman to serve as Governor of Virginia, Abigail Spanberger. I have had the privilege of knowing Abigail since she represented a nearby congressional district, and I am confident that she will prove herself to be an exceedingly qualified leader, and the right one for our precarious political reality.
Finally, congratulations to Jay Jones, the next Attorney General of Virginia. I served with Jay in the House and he comes from a strong family of civil rights activists and lawyers and has himself been committed to our shared Democratic principles.
